Indiana State Fair on a Budget
There’s always so much going on at the Indiana State Fair, and I want to do all of it! But with a college student’s budget, it can be hard to experience everything the fair has to offer. The nice thing about the Indiana State Fair is that we offer a wide variety of discounts that can help stretch your dollar. Here are a few that will help broke college students (myself included) enjoy the fair to the fullest.
- Admission: The fair can be a fun place to get all your friends together. But because college students are on a budget, it can be hard to get your entire group to come due to the cost. Many college students would rather watch Netflix all day instead of spend their money – but don’t fret! Participating Walmart and CVS stores have $7 admission tickets. This discount will get your friends off the couch and to the fair. Also be sure to keep an eye on our Twitter account for ticket giveaways.
- Midway Rides: I personally love midway rides, but paying $30 dollars for unlimited rides seems steep when you’re short on cash. In order to avoid paying the full $30, make sure you buy your midway wristband online at www.indianastatefair.com. Wristbands are only $20 dollars online but you only have thru July 31st to buy them. Make sure you purchase your wristbands ASAP because this discount will save you $10. That is just enough money left-over to buy yourself a lemon shake-up and impress your date by winning her a giant stuffed-animal!
- Fair Food: The food at the Indiana State Fair is my favorite. This year’s fair features many new fair-food creations, and on a college student’s budget it can seem impossible to afford everything you want to try. I recommend visiting the fair on a $2 Tuesday or $5 Foodie Friday because these days feature discounted foods at all vendor stations. You’ll be able to afford this year’s signature Twister Fruit-Shakeup and all the other new fair-foods with this discount!
- Shane Co. Coliseum Concert Series: My sorority sisters and I are so excited to see Hunter Hayes at the Coliseum. He is just one of the many big name celebrities performing during the Shane Co. Coliseum Concert Series. Ticket prices for concerts seem to increase each summer. Being able to see big name artists, like the ones featured during our concert series, is tough as a broke college student, but lucky for your wallet we have discounted tickets available. You can find discounted tickets for Phillip Phillips and American Idol at bit.ly/1lxWSlT . Here are the concert promo codes:
- Phillip Phillips: PPBOGO
- American Idol: SFAI1
Get your tickets before they sell out! For more fair information make sure to check out our app, available for both Android and iPhone. You can also visit www.indianastatefair.com for more discounts and the entire event schedule. Enjoy this year’s Indiana State Fair – I know I will!
