Garfield Has Entered the Building – the Indiana Farmers Coliseum
We’re used to seeing Garfield in the newspaper and online. He’s even had his own major motion picture! Now, the mischievous native Hoosier (created by Muncie’s Jim Davis) has a new place to call home – the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
The Coliseum was renamed today after the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the Indy Fuel Hockey Club and Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company came to terms on a 10-year, $6 million naming rights agreement. So why Garfield? Because he is Indiana Farmers brand ambassador and mascot. His likeness will eventually stand atop the Coliseum. He was also in attendance at today’s announcement by Indiana Farmers’ CEO Kim Smith and Indiana State Fairgrounds Executive Director Cindy Hoye.
Indiana Farmers’ history dates back to 1877, even longer than the State Fairgrounds (1892)! They are headquartered in Carmel, providing auto, home, farm and business insurance exclusively to Hoosiers. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them… and maybe we’ll even add lasagna (a Garfield favorite) to the Coliseum’s concession list.
